Sensex opens at fresh record high, Nifty above 11,100; Asian Paints down 2%

It’s a subdued start to the market on this Wednesday morning, a deviation from the pre-opening rate trends where the larger index hit a fresh record high. Meanwhile, the Sensex has hit a fresh record high as well. The Nifty is well above 11,100, but is a good thirty points away from its record high.

Metals have extended their rally from the previous sessions and a strong trade in the midcaps space is also aiding the market.

The Sensex is up 62.41 points or 0.17% at 36887.51, while the Nifty is up 7.20 points or 0.06% at 11141.50. The market breadth is positive as 389 shares advanced, against a decline of 106 shares, while 60 shares were unchanged.

Shares of Asian Paints are trading over 2.5 percent lower after its June quarter results. Oil marketing companies are taking a hit on the back of rising crude oil price.

Fortis releases audited Q4 and FY18 results, auditor raises red flags

The beleaguered healthcare provider, as per the audited financial statement, reported a loss of Rs 932 crore for the fourth quarter ended March impacted by continuing business challenges, impairments and provisions

Fortis Healthcare on Saturday released audited results for Q4 and FY18, largely in line with the unaudited financials it announced on June 27.

The company said the audited financial statements have been released on the completion of the additional review of certain internal processes which were being undertaken at the request of the board of directors.

The release of audited accounts will hasten the process of company's sale. The last date for submission of bids ended early this week.

"As expected, there has been no change in the figures reported in the audited financial statements compared to the unaudited results announced," the company said in a statement.

Market Update: Nifty pharma outperforms led by Cadila Health; Idea tanks 6%, Tata Motors top loser

The breadth of the market favoured declines, with 776 stocks advancing, 827 declining and 466 remaining unchanged. On BSE, 995 stocks advanced, 949 declined and 112 remained unchanged.The broader indices including the Nifty and the Sensex are trading on a flat to negative note this Monday morning with the Nifty down 14 points at 10,807 and the Sensex is trading lower by 62 points at 35,628.

Nifty pharma outperforms led by Cadila Healthcare, Glenmark Pharma, Lupin and Sun Pharma.

Nifty auto is down almost 1 percent dragged by Tata Motors, Tata Motors DVR, Motherson Sumi Systems, Amara Raja Batteries and Hero MotoCorp among others.

Bank Nifty is trading weak with stocks like Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank and State Bank of India shedding up to 1 percent each.

Market Live: Sensex, Nifty open mildly lower: Asia mixed ahead of OPEC meeting

Asian shares are trading mixed amid trade and economic concerns; OPEC meeting ahead.


Order Win: Consortium of Capacit'e Infraprojects, Tata Projects Limited and CITIC Construction has received letter of acceptance from Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board (a MHADA Unit) for total contract value of Rs 11,744.26 crore.

"The project will be executed through a Special purpose vehicle in which Capacit'e Infraprojects Limited will have 37.1 percent share worth Rs 4,357.12 crore," the building construction company said in its filing.

Share of Tata Projects Limited in the consortium will be 36.9 percent and CITIC Construction will have 26 percent share.

Market Live: Sensex, Nifty off opening highs; ICICI Bank, InterGlobe rally

Asian stocks recoup morning losses to trade higher with Japan's Nikkei rising over half a percent.



Market Update: The market is off its opening highs following mixed trade in Asian peers amid elevated trade tensions between the US and China.

The sectoral indices are also mixed in trade while the Nifty Midcap is trading flat.
