NEW DELHI: The domestic stocks started off on a tepid note Monday as renewed trade war concerns restricted investors from making fresh purchases. At 09:23 am, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading 15.22 points higher at 35,637.36 with ICICI BankNSE 2.48 % (up 1.65 per cent) leading the chart.
Newly-added metal company VedantaNSE -3.27 % bled over 3 per cent and was the top loser of the pack.
The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 5 points higher at 10,822.95, with 26 stocks adavancing, 23 declining and 1 remained unchanged.
Among specific stocks, shares of Pricol dipped nearly 2 per cent in early trade after the company informed bourses that Haribhakti & Co. LLP submitted their resignation as statutory auditor of the company with effect from Friday. At 09:30 am, shares of the company were trading at Rs 72.20 apiece on BSE.
Dr Reddy's slipped as much as 2.59 per cent in the opening deals. The company has been excluded from Sensex composition with effect from today. This apart, the US court has restrained the company from selling generic variant of Suboxone. At 09:33 am, shares of the company were trading nearly 1 per cent lower at Rs 2,332 apiece on BSE
In the sectoral landscape, majority of the indices were trading in the negative territory. Metal stocks bled the most. At 09:37 am, The Nifty Metal pack was trading over 2 per cent lower at 3,463.25, with all the 15 components trading in the red.
