Sensex climbs nearly 150 points up, Nifty above 10,850; Page Industries rallies

Domestic equity markets opened in the green on Wednesday cheered by firm IIP numbers. The BSE Sensex opened 142.92 points, or 0.40 per cent, up at 35,835.44, whereas NSE Nifty index opened 44.65 points, or 0.41 per cent, up at 10,887.50. As many as 37 stocks n the Nifty index were trading higher with Lupin, State Bank of India (SBI), Sun Pharma, YES BankNSE 0.72 % and Indiabulls Housing Finance rising between 0.35 per cent and 0.75 per cent. On the other hand, Bharti AirtelNSE -1.05 %, Zee Entertainment, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra BankNSE -0.30 % and Tata SteelNSE -1.17 % turned out to be losers and were down between 0.25 per cent and 2 per cent.
of Page Industries advanced nearly 3 per cent in early trade after the company’s license agreement with Jockey International extended till December 31, 2040. Earlier, it had exclusive licenses for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and the UAE markets till CY30.

Markets regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) proposed to allow direct listing of Indian companies on overseas bourses and of foreign firms on Indian exchanges,while setting up an expert panel to look into the details. 

At present, Indian companies can list their shares through depository receipts abroad, while foreign companies need to go through the Indian Depository Receipt route for listing of equities.
